Email Signatures - Outlook Web App (OWA) version

IMPORTANT! Read before getting started!

The following instructions are for Outlook OWA (also referred to as PWA).

If you have desktop Outlook, please use these email signature instructions instead. To install the OWA version, instructions are below followed by email signature instructions.

The email footers below only work with Office 365 online or Outlook Web App (OWA). If you are using the Outlook desktop application DO NOT USE THESE FOOTERS. If you do, the footers will not display correctly to anyone not using Outlook.

What Is OWA (Outlook Web App)??

OWA (also referred to as PWA) is an alternative version of Outlook. It looks a bit different and has different features. In many ways, it's a more modern approach to email and plays nicer with other mail programs — which is why our footers look better for OWA. It can run in a browser (so on any computer/phone), but can also be installed, just like a desktop application (though the install process is a bit different).

How To Tell The Difference Between Desktop Outlook And OWA:

  • 'Microsoft Outlook' is the desktop application
  • 'Outlook' is the OWA

Missing Features From OWA Compared To Desktop Version:

  • Accessing other email services (Gmail, Yahoo, IMAP, etc.)
  • Setting certain flags
  • Setting followups
  • Certain formatting options

Features Unique To OWA

  • Suggested replies
  • Autocomplete suggestions
  • Snoozing emails
  • Synced footers between devices (including phones)

How To Install OWA (before setting up your email signature):

Visit the Outlook OWA website using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

Install the Web app from the address bar. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to show up.

That’s it! You may now have 2 Outlook applications on your computer: 'Microsoft Outlook' (desktop application) and 'Outlook' (OWA).
